This blog grew out of my "Down Da Road I Go Blog," which was originally to be about stuff I was interested in, music and what I was doing. There was so much history and Civil War entries, I spun two more off. Starting Jan. 1, 2012, I will be spinning a Naval blog off this one called "Running the Blockade."

Confederate Army Units Surrendered in Piecemeal Fashion-- Part 4
All dates are for 1865.
MAY 15TH: Gen. Echols disbanded the Department of East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia at Saltville, Virginia.
MAY 26TH: Gen. Buckner surrendered the Army of Trans-Mississippi to Gen Canby at New Orleans.
MAY 30TH: Gen. Slaughter and Col. Ford disbanded the remaining troops of the District of Texas, New Mexico and Arizona in Bronsville, Texas.
JUNE 2ND: Gen. Kirby Smith surrendered the Department of Trans-Mississippi to Gen. Canby at Galveston, Texas.
