This blog grew out of my "Down Da Road I Go Blog," which was originally to be about stuff I was interested in, music and what I was doing. There was so much history and Civil War entries, I spun two more off. Starting Jan. 1, 2012, I will be spinning a Naval blog off this one called "Running the Blockade."

McHenry County CW Round Table-- Part 5: "Like Shoveling Flies Across a Barnyard"
** The Battle of Seven Pines took place May 31-June 1, 1862.
** ** JEB Stuart, Confederate cavalryman, made a name for himself when he led his troops in a ride around McClellan's Army.
** McClellan constantly under reported his troop strength and overestimated Confederate strength to get more reinforcements.
** Said Lincoln" "Sending troops to McClellan is like shoveling flies across a barnyard."
**Much of the fighting during the Peninsula Campaign was done in swampy area which caused sick lists to rise dramatically in the Union Army.
