This blog grew out of my "Down Da Road I Go Blog," which was originally to be about stuff I was interested in, music and what I was doing. There was so much history and Civil War entries, I spun two more off. Starting Jan. 1, 2012, I will be spinning a Naval blog off this one called "Running the Blockade."

McHenry County Civil War Round Table: Peninsula Campaign-- Part 2
Some things brought up in the meeting June 25, 2016:
** Question of numbers regarding Lee and McClellan's armies. It was effectives as opposed to aggregate numbers. Not everyone in an army fights in a battle. There are a lot of support troops.
** Lee was very aggressive when it came to fighting as opposed to Johnston.
** Big pressure on McClellan for "On to Richmond" from Lincoln.
** Big pressure on Johnston to defend Richmond from Lee and Davis.
** McClellan preferred to use siege techniques he had learned observing the Crimean War. This revolved around the use of big guns.
