There was so much history and Civil War entries, I spun two more off. Starting Jan. 1, 2012, I will be spinning a Naval blog off this one called "Running the Blockade."

Dec. 6, 1865: 13th Amendment officially ending slavery is ratified.
Dec. 7, 1862: battle of Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
1941: Pearl Harbor Day
Dec. 11, 1862: The Battle of Fredericksburg begins
Dec. 12, 1862: The USS Cairo sinks in the Yazoo River, Mississippi.
