As New Orleans Prepares to Go (l)ower (c)ase For Its Shame

I heard on WXRT, 93.1 FM in Chicago this morning that work has begun on taking down the Liberty Place monument in New Orleans.  I don't know much about this one as it was after the war and had something to do with a white effort to take down the state reconstruction government which was partially run by Blacks.

This monument is alright with me if they remove it.

However, as soon as any of the other three (to Davis, Lee and Beauregard) come down New Orleans goes to lower case (n)ew (o)rleans for their disregard to history and heritage.  Plus, it will mean the beginning of my boycott of that city (except to visit Chalmette and the World War II museum).

Also, there has been no mention of the payments to the UDC and SCV for this horrible thing.  If you trample on someone's past such as in this case, you should pay.  I am thinking a million dollars a monument.

Much of this erasure stems from the Charleston murders.  Since the black man in California killed three whites, some black monuments should be removed as well.

I Imagine the Jackson Statue in Jackson Square (and That Square's Name) Will be Next.  He Owned Slaves, You Know.  Plus, Was Very Horrible to Indians.  --Old Secesh
