Davis' connection with Washington state.
I knew Jefferson Davis served in the U.S. Army after graduating from West Point and was in the Mexican War and was Secretary of War for four years, but what might his connection with Washington State be?
As secretary of War for the United States from 1853-1857, he pushed for westward expansion and added forts and arsenals in the west. He directed that surveys be made for a path for the transcontinental railroad and had a military road built from Walla-Walla to Puget Sound.
OK, Then. He Had a Connection. --Old Secesh
