I've Been Watching The History Channel's "Roots"

I've seen all three airings so far.

It definitely shows man's inhumanity to man.  Slavery was a horrible thing with the constant dehumanization.  It is too bad that it happened.  But, it did.  We all have to live with that.  It took brave and courageous people to live under such conditions.

I was glad to see the series showed that it was blacks who sold other blacks into slavery.  From what I have read, it seems that the vast majority of Africans captured and sold into slavery were captured and sold into slavery by other Africans for a profit.

This would seem to me to indict the race as a whole because of their part in slavery.  Those who sold the blacks into slavery, then, were just as bad as the Europeans and Northerners who moved the slaves to the New World, the Northerners who held slaves until it became obvious that the system wouldn't work in the North, and the Southern whites who ended up owning the slaves.
