The Confederacy Under Attack-- Part 199: Jefferson Davis Highway Under Attack in Washington State

From the Feb. 18, 2016, Google Alerts for Confederate.

**  Black Lives Matter, SCV agree of criticism of renaming effort.  (Always good to agree on something in this contentious time.)  In 1939 the road was renamed the Jefferson Davis Highway from Vancouver to the Canadian border.  State Route 59.

This was the news from the article which led me to think it was Vancouver, Canada, until I found out there is a Vancouver, Washington at the Oregon border.  Wikipedia says that in 1939, The Washington state legislature renamed State Route 99 the Jefferson Davis Highway as a continuation of the Jefferson Davis Highway that ran from Washington, D.C., to San Diego and northward through California to the Canadian border.

In 2002, the Washington State House of Representatives voted unanimously to remove the name, but it was killed in a Senate committee.
