Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War Hold Annual Convention

The Department of Minnesota of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War held their 101st convention April 22-23 in Maple Grove, Minnesota.

They held a business meeting, elected officers and Marveen Minish of Minneapolis is the new department president.

The DUVCW was organized on May 30, 1885, in Massilon, Ohio.  Memberships requires being a direct descendant of Union military personnel and at least the age of eight.  Local groups are called Tents and named for Army nurses or any loyal women from 1861-1865.

The Department of Minnesota currently has 109 members with three Tents.
