The Confederacy Under Attack-- Part 294: Florida Chooses Finalists for National Capitol Hall of Fame

From the June 23, 2016, Google Alerts for Confederate.

**  Florida has three suggestions to replace the Confederate statue.  (OK)  The statue in question is of Confederate General Kirby Smith, who, other than growing up in Florida, had very little to do with the state.  So, it was OK with me to put another statue up in his place.

A committee looked through 130 recommendations to come up with these three.

They are Mary McLeod Bethune, a black woman who founded Bethune-Cookman University, Publix grocery store founder George Washington Jenkins and "The Everglades: River of Grass" author Marjory Stonemen Douglas.

The legislature will make the final choice among the three.  All four members of the committee chose Bethune, and two each picked the other two.

I imagine that Mary Berthune will be chosen because of the all the committee choosing her and, of course, because she is black.

A Worthy Choice.  --Old Secesh
