"I Am a Prisoner Unwounded"

A letter from Petersburg April 12/65.

"I am a prisoner unwounded.  Do not know whare I am to be sent.  Will let you know as soon as possible, when I have no doubt the Federal Authorities will let you communicate with me perhaps visit me.

"God bless & protect you & unite us soon - I was captured April 6th at Harpers Farm."  (Sayler's CReek)

Letter written by prisoner-of-war Brigadier General Montgomery Dent Corse, C.S.A., 17th Virginia Infantry, to his wife Elizabeth Beverly Corse.
